The Great Allegany Run

The WMHS initiative for our employees and their families, Running for the Health of It (Couch to 5K), culminated with the Great Allegany Run last Saturday.  We had 50 members on the WMHS team including 37 who had completed the class.  The class began in late July and was very well received.  During this week, I heard story after story from our employees who never imagined that they would ever participate in a 5K. We had five members of our administrative team participate and ten members of our team won first, second or third place in their age bracket.  To a person who participated in the Great Allegany Run from WMHS, they have now adopted a running lifestyle and will continue to train for two upcoming 5K races in our area.  Some have discussed forming a WMHS Running Club.  Some are even gearing up to run in future 15K races.  We ended up with a waiting list of over thirty from our first class so we will be offering another class in the Spring of 2014.  I am thrilled that our employees participated in the class and the subsequent race as well as had a great time doing it.  Some of the photos from the race are attached. Way to go!
