Quint Studer recently published his new book, " A
Culture of High Performance," and as he always does, he sends me a free
copy. This one looks pretty interesting as it provides a framework
for creating a culture of high performance. High performance and high
reliability are now key in the health care industry as we attempt to thrive and
survive in this age of disruption according to Quint.
What are the success factors for high performance or
reliability? According to Quint, they include the art and science of
leading, following, as well as implementing strategies and tactics that lead to
higher quality of care provided at a lower cost. I would add one
more, which is accountability. We need to do a much better job of
holding our staff accountable for their work product and outcomes.
Quint's book appears to be a good read as he attempts to
convey that sense of urgency for all of us in health care as we continue to
navigate a sea of constant change. Amen to that. I will
let you know how it turns out and whether it is worth the read.
